Should You Combine Liposuction With Renuvion® (J Plasma) for the Abdomen? Answers to Your FAQs

Renuvion and liposuction can be a great combination for your abdomen and other areas for several reasons. Liposuction effectively eliminates stubborn fat deposits from all over your body, but it can’t improve the surface skin above the treated areas. Once the fat deposits are removed, your skin might tighten over time, but very lax skin may have difficulty contracting to your new shape.

This is why many people choose to combine liposuction with Renuvion, a skin-tightening treatment that tightens the skin from underneath. Below are some FAQs about Renuvion and why it works well combined with liposuction.

How Does Renuvion Work?

Renuvion is a minimally invasive skin treatment that combines radiofrequency energy and helium plasma, causing the skin beneath the surface to contract. These contractions tighten the surface skin and produce more collagen, which in turn builds stronger, more resilient skin cells.

If you combine Renuvion with your liposuction session, you won’t need extra incisions. Dr. Wright can use the same incisions that were used for liposuction to administer the Renuvion treatment.

Can Renuvion Optimize Liposuction Results?

Renuvion tightens and firms skin so your liposuction results can be more visible. Liposuction eliminates stubborn fat deposits from your abdomen, upper arms, hips, and many other areas. Loose and sagging skin can hide your liposuction results and make the treated areas look lumpy and uneven.

When you pair liposuction with Renuvion, you can eliminate stubborn fat and tighten saggy skin in one procedure and with one recovery period.

Keep in mind that if you have moderate to significant skin laxity in your treatment area, a surgical tightening procedure such as a tummy tuck will likely give you better results than Renuvion.

How Long Is the Recovery Period for Liposuction and Renuvion?

Liposuction recovery takes around 2 weeks, and you will only need a few days of recovery for Renuvion. Dr. Wright will advise you to wear a compression garment to help with the healing process. You may notice some mild swelling, bruising, and redness during the first few days after your procedure.

Dr. Wright will advise you on prescription or over-the-counter medications you can take to manage any discomfort.

How Soon Can I See Results After My Procedure?

Although you will experience swelling, you can see some skin tightening results almost immediately! As swelling recedes and new collagen develops, your results will progressively improve. You should see your full liposuction results within 1 to 3 months, but your skin’s appearance may improve for up to 9 months.

Am I a Good Candidate To Combine Liposuction and Renuvion?

A good candidate for these two procedures should follow a healthy lifestyle, take care of their skin, and be a nonsmoker (or be willing to quit). Tobacco use can restrict blood flow and prevent your incisions from healing properly. A healthy diet will help you heal faster as well as promote skin health so that you can get optimal results from your procedure.
