Has the firm, tight skin of your youth given way to thinning, crepiness, and laxity? Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Wright is pleased to offer a safe, effective alternative to surgical skin tightening called Renuvion. At his practice in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Wright uses Renuvion to help patients from Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Conway, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and other nearby areas attain noticeable skin firming and tightening for the face and body. This minimally invasive treatment significantly minimizes the incisions, scarring, and downtime that go along with surgery.

What is Renuvion?

Renuvion, formerly called J-Plasma®, is a minimally invasive skin tightening treatment that combines radiofrequency energy (RF) and helium gas to heat the skin just beneath its surface. The result is immediate tightening (contraction) as well as continued firming for months through increased collagen production.

What areas can Renuvion treat?

Renuvion is best for treating areas of mild to moderately lax skin, which often include:

  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Upper arms
  • Upper back and bra line
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs

After massive weight loss or pregnancy, patients with significant skin laxity often need a surgical procedure such as a tummy tuck, body lift, arm lift, or thigh lift to attain their desired results. Dr. Wright will recommend the appropriate procedure combination during a personal consultation.

Why is Renuvion combined with liposuction?

When the skin lacks elasticity, it doesn’t always smooth out and tighten after fat removal with liposuction or VASERlipo®. By performing Renuvion as part of a liposuction procedure, Dr. Wright can provide beautiful, natural-looking results when elasticity is a concern. He can also use Renuvion to enhance the results of a previous liposuction procedure.

How is Renuvion performed?

Dr. Wright performs Renuvion as an outpatient procedure using a local anesthetic with IV sedation or general anesthetic depending on patient preference and areas being treated. He begins by creating a tiny incision in the skin through which he inserts the long, thin, flexible probe. Dr. Wright carefully guides the probe beneath the skin as RF energy and helium are released to create cold plasma, which causes the collagen fibers in the skin to contract and tighten the skin from within. Collagen production is increased for additional firming and tightening over the following months.

How long does it take to recover from Renuvion?

While recovery experiences vary, patients are typically ready to return to non-strenuous jobs and activities within a week to 10 days. Expect tenderness, light bruising, and swelling in treated areas for approximately 1 to 2 weeks. Wearing a compression wrap as directed can minimize swelling and keep the skin smooth as it heals.

When will I see my full results?

Patients often notice tightening in treated areas right after their treatment. As new collagen develops over the following 6 to 9 months, the skin becomes even firmer and thicker.

How long do Renuvion results last?

The results from a single Renuvion treatment can last years. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and using high-quality sunscreen consistently can help maintain the improvements as long as possible. The aging process will continue and eventually affect the skin’s thickness and elasticity.
