Incisions to Injections: Your Facelift Options

Woman pondering facelift options in Little Rock, Arkansas

Even if you’re vibrant and energetic, an aging face might be communicating fatigue or a permanent scowl. We offer facelift surgery for our Little Rock, Arkansas, patients who want to appear as youthful outside as they feel inside. However, even though a facelift can transform your appearance, it isn’t the only option for facial rejuvenation. If you want to contour your face and take years off your look, there are a few treatment choices to consider.

Traditional Facelift

Classic facelift surgery tightens skin along the neck, jowls, and cheeks. It is used to remove sagging skin, smooth out wrinkles, and lift drooping facial muscles. During the procedure, a long incision is made from the temple to behind the ear, allowing the surgeon to reposition the tissues and muscles of the face. This approach creates a more natural look than older, skin-only techniques, which created a stretched, “windblown” look.

You can expect to look around 10 to 15 years younger once your swelling and bruising have subsided. Facelift patients can return to work and socializing after about 2 weeks, but final results will continue to develop over many months.

Mini Facelift

A mini facelift (also known as a “short scar facelift”) is essentially a scaled-down version of a traditional facelift. This less-invasive technique only requires short incisions near your ears, lifting your lower facial skin away from your jaw and neck. This creates smooth cheeks and a well-defined jawline without the more significant scars from facelift surgery. However, the procedure isn’t as comprehensive as the full treatment, and it cannot address other major signs of aging on the face.

Liquid Facelift

Not every patient feels comfortable with the idea of surgery. In certain cases, a nonsurgical approach can work well. A liquid facelift is a nonsurgical facelift alternative that uses injectables to smooth, sculpt, and contour your face. BOTOX and other neuromodulators are used to smooth wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. Dermal fillers can plump withered cheeks or fill in hollows under the eyes. These subtle changes can help you look instantly more youthful—all without having to undergo surgery.

A liquid facelift is not as long-lasting as surgery, and the results aren’t as transformational as a traditional facelift. However, many men and women enjoy the convenience of injectables and appreciate bypassing the recovery period.

Which Is Right for Me?

Choosing the right facelift treatment depends on your goals and personal tastes. If you want a major change that rejuvenates a large portion of your face, a traditional facelift is your best bet. For those who want to treat a smaller area or avoid a more extensive surgery, a mini facelift or liquid facelift can work well. Talk with your surgeon during your initial consultation to learn which approach will work best for your unique needs.

No matter the procedure you choose, a facelift can help you take years off your appearance. If you’re in the Little Rock area and would like to learn more about treatment, request a consultation online or call (501) 575-0088.
